There is no place in the world that fills my heart like returning to the shores of Nantucket Island! After an action packed winter of teaching yoga and surfing in Nicaragua and Santa Barbara, I couldn’t be happier to be home. The crisp breeze and sweet smelling ocean air are like a blanket for my soul. Everywhere I turn is an old friend to embrace me with hugs and smiles and new friends to be made.

YOGA ON EARTH… The Dharma Yoga studio has never looked better! New bamboo floors, sand bags, more bolsters, and an updated arsenal of props to enhance your practice are waiting for you this 2015 season. We will be adding three 10am classes to accommodate those who are not early risers. My Friday 10am class is being designed to cater especially to my comrades in the restaurant industry. I want to treat your feet, legs, hips and shoulders to some feel good yoga tonic! If you haven’t checked it out already Joann and Ted are teaching a candlelight Restorative Yoga class on Fridays nights- what a great idea for a date! Megan has more core crunching classes on the schedule and Sheri continues to bring her serene energy and Ayurvedic expertise to the studio. I am offering a Restorative Yoga Nidra Workshop once a month this season. Certified massage therapists Alexa Stern and Reiki Artist  Janice Demooy will be bringing their magic to these workshops once again. Be on the look out for more healers as I add to my team!

YOGA IN AIR… Joann, Sheri, Megan and I have been training hard in the aerial studio getting ready to offer you more aerial classes this summer. The beautiful Carlisle Hodges will be making cameo appearances to help assist classes.  Have you ever let yourself hang in a “silk?” These swings are just about the dreamiest things I’ve ever practiced in. They cradle and suspend the body above the earth we are accustomed to. They offer great traction to the joints, stimulate circulation and massage the lymph nodes. Did I mention it’s super fun! We will be adding Restorative Aerial taught by Sheri Perlman- feels so good. Joann Burnham will continue to teach basic aerial yoga while Megan Dubois and I will teach intermediate classes. Get your core ready! Intermediate will be sure to fire it up, as well offer new postures and more inversions. Can anyone say spinal traction? I get two inches taller when I practice!

YOGA ON WATER… I am thrilled to Join Caitlin Marcoux’s team at Paddle Nantucket this summer! What could be more perfect for this ocean soul than to teach yoga on the ocean (literately) in my favorite place on earth? Caitlin has expanded her schedule of classes as well as team of teachers. My Good Friend Erin (Erin Lee Yoga) and I have been training, practicing and playing on her new Glide boards- they are amazing! Despite the chilly water that still lurking around, this practice always gets me fired up and inspired. Nantucket’s own Evie will be joining the team as well as Juli from Providence who brings her kick-ass Bikram background with her and Kelly straight from Nosara in Costa Rica. My kind of ladies! I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to call this my job!

BEYOND YOGA… Not the apparel, although Beyond Yoga is my new favorite yoga wear- it’s the softest legging that has ever touched my skin and it hugs me just right. Beyond my Yoga endeavors, I have spent several weeks, polishing, dusting and unpacking Straight Wharf Restaurant. Mayumi has been filling the air with delicious aromas from the kitchen, our entire talented front of the house staff has returned and I feel like I’m with family. We had a successful Wine Festival weekend featuring Jorge Ordonez for our wine dinner. We all survived Figawi, the cellar is stocked and I am ready to find just the right wine for you! The 2005 Petite Mouton-Rothschild is drinking like a dream. If you find yourself on our beautiful island come say hi! After surfing perfect waves in the Pacific, the Atlantic seems angry and cold, and just plain messy. However, my best surfer girl and I made it out for a session and I am reminded of how special it is to surf your home break with friends, even wrapped in gloves, a hood, booties and 5 millimeters of neoprene.

Thank you Nantucket for all your beautiful gifts and people. It’s good to be home.
